Birds of the World is a platform that seeks to be a resource that comprehensively synthesizes all the information for the world's 11,145 bird species.
Each species fact sheet compiles information on the natural history, biology, and conservation of the species, illustrating the information with multimedia, updated species maps, and including undescribed information obtained through the eBird project and multimedia from the Macaulay Library.
Birds of the World can be used for multiple purposes, including learning about the natural history of our species, but it also helps make our research more efficient and effective (by compiling everything known about species), identifies gaps in knowledge, and helps identify measures for the conservation of our species.
In Peru, Birds of the World has been freely accessible since 2022 thanks to an agreement with CORBIDI. However, there are still several hundred species whose information is outdated. To this end, we invite the Peruvian ornithological community to participate in this workshop, in which we will show how to get involved in updating this content.
